An Island
The sunshine
Explorers recruited
Went rogue for one weekend
Carefree
Abandon
The waves and the boulders
Golf carts to freedom
New voices
New faces
Candy shop break-ins
Revelry ensues
On purpose
I wonder
Left in the darkness
Alone but together
Cheeks flushed from
A sunburn
The heat between us
Went deeper than skin
The lean in,
I falter
Persistance pays
Body takes over
The head tilt
Embraces
Spearmint tastes
And salty air
Can’t breathe right
I’m done for
Forever altered
Irrevocably
I wonder
Could this be
All I imagined
Plato's true beauty
Cares leave me
Control's gone
I’d give up too much
To get back there again
